OMSs must stay informed about evolving technologies and treatment options for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). This plenary session will cover a comprehensive approach to OSA management, including symptom recognition, advanced evaluation techniques, non-surgical interventions, innovative neurostimulation devices, and strategic surgical planning, all aimed at improving patient care and outcomes.

Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:
  1. Recognize OSA before the sleep study by evaluating subjective symptoms, craniofacial anatomy, comorbid conditions and data from smart phone apps and other devices.
  2. Develop a treatment plan that includes non-surgical management options such as weight loss drugs and oral appliances.
  3. Discuss neurostimulation as an option to patients including the role of the OMS, review of devices, device-related morbidity and patient outcomes.
  4. Identify patients that may benefit from adjunctive surgical procedures in addition to MMA.
