Utilizing OMSNIC closed case examples, a panel of practicing OMSs and an attorney will illustrate patient safety and risk management principles to help OMSs minimize adverse events related to the in-office administration of anesthesia.

Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:
  1. Explain the components used in the patient selection process to determine candidates for in-office administration of anesthesia, including age, physical status/airway assessment, medical and dental history and medications.
  2. Discuss emergency management planning and preparedness for the OMS practice team.
  3. Apply the principles of patient safety and risk management, including the use of equipment and
    documentation, of the patient experience in the clinical setting.
