This session is designed to educate the OMS practitioner on the importance of ergonomics and fitness strategies as wellness and longevity tools. The session is designed to draw attention to occupational hazards that all OMSs face, namely musculoskeletal disorders, and provide education to avoid these pitfalls. The ergonomic and fitness strategies presented are designed to be simple and easy for the OMS to incorporate into everyday practice.

Define occupational health and ergonomics as it relates to the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery.
Recognize the most common MSD in oral and maxillofacial surgery.
Use basic ergonomic risk assessment tools.
Evaluate existing and new technologies regarding their impact on proper ergonomics and/or efficiency.
Incorporate fitness strategies into everyday life/practice to combat MSD and improve longevity.
