Cleft and craniomaxillofacial care encompasses an understanding of historical approaches to patient care, complex decision-making processes, advances in surgical and non-surgical interventions and an understanding of the importance of a team model. This preconference session will address current controversies and challenges in the field, including types of bone grafting, endoscopic vs. open approach in craniosynostosis repair and conventional Le Fort vs. distraction.

Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:
  1. Recognize how cleft and craniomaxillofacial care has evolved and improved over the past decades.
  2. Identify and discuss up-to-date solutions to aspects of cleft and craniomaxillofacial care.
  3. Recognize varied interventions for the treatment of complex cleft and craniomaxillofacial conditions, their timing, application and outcomes.
  4. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of varied treatment options.
