This session describes 11 categories of presentations of medical emergencies in the OMS office with a focus on anesthesia emergencies. It will cover types of emergencies and their appropriate responses and how to successfully design a simulation curriculum aimed at coordinated team response.

Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:
  1. Describe the various causes of loss of breath sounds during sedation and how to manage and support the airway while identifying the cause.
  2. Explain causes of loss of consciousness in the OMS office and responses.
  3. Demonstrate how to set up high-fidelity emergency training scenarios in the operatory or simulation center.
