Over the last two decades, the success of the zygoma implant used for reconstruction of resorbed maxillae has been well documented. At this time, it is prudent to revisit the principles which have been critical for the long-term success of this treatment concept. This presentation will review the principles which are critical for predictable outcomes as well as preventing potential complications. The trajectory of the zygoma implant will be discussed as well as the surgical protocol for the use of the zygoma round and zygoma flat implant. Case presentations emphasizing the management of fractured and or failed zygoma implants will be reviewed to allow the participants to understand algorithms available for planning zygoma cases as well as managing cases with complications.
