Dr. Jean-Charles Doucet, DMD, MD, MSc, FRCD(C) is an Associate Professor of the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Science at Dalhousie University, Halifax, Canada. He completed his dentistry degree (DMD) at the University of Montreal in 2004, followed by a general practice residency at the Notre-Dame Hospital and University of Montreal in 2005. He obtained both his medical degree and Master of Science and completed his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Dalhousie University in 2011. He then concluded his subspecialty training with a Cleft and Craniofacial Fellowship at the University of Montpellier, France in 2012.
Dr. Doucet joined the QE II Health Sciences Centre and IWK Health Centre, Halifax, Canada in July 2012 as an attending oral and maxillofacial surgeon and cleft/craniofacial surgeon on the IWK Cleft Palate Team. Dr. Doucet is a member of the Americleft research group, member of the American Cleft Palate/Craniofacial Association and Section Editor for the Cleft Palate Craniofacial Journal. He has numerous peer-reviewed publications and his research interests focus on the primary repair of the cleft lip nasal deformity, early alveolar bone grafting, cleft distraction osteogenesis, and inter-center cleft outcome comparison.
