Dr. Maria Franco Echevarria is an accomplished, board-certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. She earned her MD from the prestigious University of Navarra in Spain and completed a rigorous five-year OMFS residency at Cruces University Hospital, one of the largest academic oncology and trauma center in northern Spain, where she later served as an attending surgeon.
Dr. Franco’s journey brought her to Canada, where she obtained her DMD from McGill University, completed the DSAT program, and achieved her FRCDC board certification. Currently, she holds the position of Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto, where she also serves as the Oral Surgery Undergraduate Program Director at the Faculty of Dentistry. In addition to supervising Master’s thesis candidates, she plays an active role in shaping the next generation of dental and OMFS professionals.
Dr. Franco is an attending surgeon at both Mount Sinai Hospital, Princess Margaret Hospital, and Humber River Hospital while also maintaining a thriving private practice. She is deeply involved in teaching dental students, as well as mentoring dental and OMFS residents. Her commitment to education and professional development extends to participating in conferences and continuing medical education (CME) activities at the University of Toronto and on an international stage.
