Dr. Edward C. Adlesic received his dental degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine in 1980 and then completed an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency program at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1984.
He returned to Pittsburgh and established a private practice in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery that he maintained from 1984 to 2015. During that time, he served as Chief of the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Western Pennsylvania Hospital for 18 years. Dr. Adlesic also served in the US Army Reserves as a Lieutenant Colonel being activated in 1991 for Operation Dessert Storm.
In 2015, he accepted a faculty position at the University of Pittsburgh where he serves as an Associate Professor in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Dental Anesthesiology. Dr. Adlesic is a Fellow in AAOMS and is a past Chair of the Committee on Anesthesia. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and was on the Oral Examination Committee of ABOMS.
Dr. Adlesic is a Fellow in the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology and a Diplomate of the National Board of Dental Anesthesiology. He is a past Director and the current President of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology. He is also the dental representative to the Professional Advisory Council Malignant Hyperthermia Association of the United States.
Dr Adlesic is a frequent lecturer at AAOMS and ADSA regional and national meetings.
