Oral and maxillofacial surgeons encounter challenging patients and surgical situations in their offices daily. Office-Based Management of the Challenging Patient will review challenges in medical management, pathology, anesthesia, dental implants and medicolegal concerns for the practicing oral and maxillofacial surgeon.

Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:
  1. Assess and mitigate risks when treating osteoporotic patients.
  2. Identify current insurance trends and avoid pitfalls.
  3. Recognize and manage oral potentially malignant lesions effectively.
  4. Screen and manage psychiatric patients for anesthesia in the office setting.
  5. Review alternative solution for placing implants in the atrophic/pneumatized maxilla.
  6. Avoid common errors which can lead to medico-legal claims.
