The purpose of this session is to introduce the impact of social media and how it can be utilized in an oral and maxillofacial surgery practice. As social media becomes more and more prominent, oral and maxillofacial surgeons have the potential to tap into a large audience to establish a reputation, provide patient education and gain new patients. More importantly, social media can help differentiate one practice from another in a highly competitive environment. This session also can be helpful to academic programs that aim to recruit potential faculty, residents and fellows.

At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:
Recognize the impact social media can have on patient outreach, patient perception and education.
Develop the social media footprint for the OMS practice or academic program.
Recognize and implement strategies to differentiate the practice from other practices in the area.
