Managing maxillofacial trauma in pediatric patients presents unique challenges. This session aims to give attendees confidence in evaluating and managing pediatric patients with maxillofacial trauma injuries. It will cover evaluation of pediatric maxillofacial trauma patients, differences in management between pediatric and adult patients, surgical and non-surgical treatment options for various maxillofacial injuries and postoperative care, management of complications and long-term follow-up for pediatric patients.

Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:
  1. Evaluate a pediatric patient with maxillofacial trauma.
  2. Discuss surgical and non-surgical treatment options for maxillofacial trauma in the pediatric patient.
  3. Highlight the differences between adult and pediatric maxillofacial trauma.
  4. Describe postoperative evaluation of the patient, including management of complications and long-term follow-up.
