Private Practice and Clinical Professor Center for Dental Reconstruction Metairie, Louisiana
Based on actual implant failures, this session will review failed cases and identify situations with a relative risk for complications. Evidence from literature will support the guidelines presented, helping clinicians improve their planning and reduce the percentage of failures in their practice.
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:
Realize what pretreatment situations are prone to increased risk for implant failure.
Recognize that alterations in treatment plans may be necessary to avoid failures.
Recognize that the OMS may need to stage treatment to avoid complications involving extraction sites.
Explain the need for the OMS to provide grafting to ideally position implants of sufficient length to long-term success.
Recognize the engineering for the implant number and positioning to provide mechanical support for the prosthesis.
