Jesse W. Austin, DMD is a resident physician in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) in Jackson, Mississippi. He earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from UMMC in 2022. Prior to dental school, Dr. Austin completed a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences at Mississippi State University.
Dr. Austin is engaged in clinical training and academic scholarship in oral and maxillofacial surgery. He scored in the 91st percentile among first-year residents nationwide on the OMSITE exam and has been recognized with multiple honors, including the ACOMS William H. Bell Award for Pre-Doctoral Achievement, the AAOMS Dental Student Award, and the Pierre Fauchard Academy Senior Award of Recognition.
He has also demonstrated a strong commitment to leadership and community service, serving as Secretary of the Jackson Free Clinic Dental Board, where he coordinated clinical operations and volunteered to provide dental care to underserved populations. He has held additional leadership roles in student research and wellness organizations at UMMC.
Dr. Austin’s interests include clinical innovation in maxillofacial prosthetics, surgical education, and community-based care. His long-term goal is to integrate clinical excellence, academic research, and service in the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery.
