Patrick J. Louis, DDS, MD

Dr. Patrick Louis, is a professor and chair of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and holds joint appointments in the Schools of Dentistry and Medicine. Dr. Louis is currently the Medical Emergency Officer for the School of Dentistry. He has served as a consultant to the Alabama Board of Dental Examiners, performing office evaluations for conscious sedation and general anesthesia licensure. He has also served as a commissioner for the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA). Dr. Louis has authored numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters. He has lectured in state, national and international scientific forums multiple topics including TMJ surgery, dental implants, orthognathic surgery, trauma, reconstructive surgery, benign pathology and dentoalveolar surgery.
