Dr. Susan E. Bourque, DDS, MD, MSc, FRCD(C)
Dr. Susan Bourque is a 2013 graduate of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency program at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She has since established a thriving private practice in Sydney, Nova Scotia, and serves as the sole oral and maxillofacial surgeon for Cape Breton Island. In this role, she provides a wide range of surgical services—including dentoalveolar surgery, facial trauma care, and orthognathic surgery—across multiple regional hospitals in a geographically large and medically underserved area.
Dr. Bourque is recognized for her leadership within the profession. She is a past president of the Atlantic Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and currently serves as a line officer on the executive committee of the Canadian Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. For over a decade, she has also contributed as a board examiner for the Royal College of Dentists of Canada.
In addition to her clinical and leadership roles, Dr. Bourque actively pursues professional development, regularly attending national and international conferences to stay updated on the latest surgical techniques and technologies. Her dedication to lifelong learning ensures she continues to provide the highest standard of care to her patients.
