Jay Ponto, DDS, MD, MBA is an Assistant Professor of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He graduated with his MBA from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo; DDS degree from the University of California, Los Angeles; and MD degree from the State University of New York, Health Science Center in Brooklyn. His general surgery internship was completed at the State Univeristy of New York, Downstate Medical Center; residency in oral & maxillofacial surgery was completed at New York Health + Hospitals | Kings County Hospital; and his fellowship in head and neck oncologic and microvascular reconstructive surgery was completed at the Providence Cancer Institute in Portland, OR. His clinical and research interests pertain to head and neck oncology, head and neck reconstructive surgery, postoperative rehabilitation following free flap surgery, and maxillofacial trauma.
