Orthognathic surgery focuses on the correction of skeletal malocclusion. Over the past 23 years, Dr. Shahid Aziz has completed over 2,500 orthognathic surgeries. This session will cover the evolution of Dr. Aziz’s career as an orthognathic surgeon, including case planning and preparation, surgical techniques and the impact of technological advancements on practice. Additionally, it will address the complications encountered, lessons learned and management strategies.

Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:
  1. Discuss how orthognathic surgery has evolved.
  2. Critique surgical failures and know how to prevent, avoid and fix them.
  3. Explain the evolution of reimbursement for orthognathic surgery and strategies to improve reimbursement.
