Dr. Brandt is a graduate of the College of William and Mary and the University of Iowa College of Dentistry. He completed his residency and obtained a Medical Degree at the University of Kentucky. Dr. Brandt also completed an additional year of training in general surgery and microsurgical nerve repair with the Department of Plastic Surgery at the Chandler Medical Center at the University of Kentucky. Dr. Brandt is licensed to perform cosmetic surgery in addition to full-scope Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He served for 8 years in the United States Navy Reserve and was honorably discharged in 2010 as a Lieutenant Commander. He also served as President of the Shenandoah Valley Dental Association from 2009-2010 and the Virginia Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from 2024-2025.
Dr. Brandt is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (F.A.C.S.). Dr. Brandt is a Board Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and served as a national Board Examiner with the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS) from 2017 to 2024. During that tenure, he was selected to serve as the ABOMS expert on dentoalveolar surgery and as the Section II Co-Chair. Dr. Brandt has authored twenty-four peer-reveiewed publications on topics including ethics, head and neck trauma, dentoalveolar surgery, and pathology.
Dr. Brandt is dedicated to his local community. He has served on numerous charitable committees, including the Augusta Regional Dental Clinic Board, the Virginia Fly Fishing Festival Committee, the Grace Race 5K Run/Walk Event, and the Waynesboro YMCA Tri for the Y Triathlon. He has served on the session of his local church, Tinkling Spring Presbyterian Church, has been a parent leader with The Boys Scouts of America, and has coached youth athletics for over 20 years. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, surfing, snow skiing, golf, and competing in Triathlons. Dr. Brandt lives in Waynesboro with his wife and their two sons, both of whom currently attend Florida State University.
